Abstract

235,430. British-American Laundry Machinery Co., Ltd., (American Laundry Machinery Co.). Sept. 4, 1924. Charging and feeding; air, controlling circulation of.-Clothing, textile fabrics, &c. are placed in perforated cylindrical containers 34 that are conveyed through the drying-chamber by inclined rotary shafts 8 while subjected to the circulation of currents of superheated air produced by fans 17 communicating with suction chambers 15 located in the upper part of the drying-chamber. The containers are returned to the inlet end of the drying-chamber upon an inclined runway at the side of the chamber. Communication between the air-heating chamber 4 in the lower part of the drying-chamber and the suction chambers is established automaticallv bv the containers engaging with arms secured to dampers 13 which form a partition between the drying and suction chambers. The chamber 4 is provided with perforated plates 4a between which are arranged steam-pipes 3. In a modification, the plates 4a are dispensed with and the lower plate is replaced bv a floor formed of slidable plates. Further, the shafts may be provided with threads 8<a>, Fig. 8, adapted to engage with grooves 30<a> formed on the containers. Srecification 236,412 is referred to.
