Buildings and chambers; air, controlling; circulation of.-Relates to apparatus of the kind described in Specifications 15108/03 and 14014/08 in which the material is dried by a current of air passing downwards and upwards through adjacent heating and drying compartments, and consists in providing at the bottom of the drying- compartment a grid-like air diffuser and comprising parallel plates a secured together and spaced apart by cross-stages b. The plates may be inclined towards the incoming hot air, and are of a progressively increasing height as they recede from the air inlet. The plates and cross-stages may be connected by means of slits formed in each, and secured by angle-irons.
