Abstract
178,262. Herring, W. R., and Grice & Sons, Ltd., W. Feb. 22, 1921. Separators. -- A moisture eliminator for use with a wet filter comprises a series of vertical plates in the duct through which the air passes from the filter, the plates forming sinuous passages into which projections extend at the junctions and rear edges of the plates, and their lower edges extending into a trough below the level of the floor of the duct. The apparatus shown in vertical and horizontal sections in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a series of vertical plates 1 arranged to form zig-zag passages and having projections 3 at their junctions; these projections collect the moisture, which trickles down into a trough 4 into which the lower ends of the plates extend, resting on a perforated trough 10. A baffle plate 6 extends from the roof of the air duct into contact with the front plates. The floor of the duct is formed by plates 5 supported from the trough walls and extending over the trough, leaving a space 11 between the plates 1,. 5. From the rear wall of the trough a plate 12 extends into contact with the plates. Angle irons or plates 13 are provided at the sides of the air ducts.
