Drying fabrics in long lengths.-The fabric is conveyed by starter chains 16 through superposed drying compartments 3, 2, and hot air is continuously circulated by fans 7 mounted upon a common shaft passing through the steam-heated chambers 5 , 5<b> ; controlled inlets 8 and outlets 9 are provided for the admission of cold air to and moisture-laden air from the air circulation. In a modification, the moisture-laden air exhausted from the lower compartments is circulated through the uppermost compartment. The moist air exhausted from the apparatus may be used to ventilate damp rooms.
