Abstract

Treating ores to remove undesired constituents and to facilitate concentration.-Low grade iron ores containing a large percentage of silica are roasted at a temperature insufficient to cause sintering, and quenched in water; the product is subjected to rubbing to separate the ore particles from the silica, and then to washing followed by magnetic and mechanical separation.
