Abstract

A nucleo-proteid is obtained from tubercle bacilli by preliminary treatment with hydrochloric acid to remove nucleic acid and render permeable the waxy coating of the bacilli, by extracting the separated bacilli with dilute alkali, and by precipitating the albuminous substance so extracted by adding acetic acid. The substance obtained may be redissolved in alkali, reprecipitated with acetic acid, and dried with alcohol and ether. Specification 161,341, [Class 81 (i), Disinfecting &c.], is referred to.
