Folding wringers and mangles.-The frame 10, which carries the rollers 2, is raised or lowered to or from operative position by the engagement of a pinion 14, carried by the shaft of the winch handle, with a rack 13 pivoted at 13<a> to the stationary frame 11. The rack is biassed to the inclined position by a spring 15 but is kept in the vertical position during the movement of the wringer frame by the sliding engagement of a link 16, carried at the lower end of the rack, with the flanges 10<a> of the wringer frame which slide in grooves 11<a> in the stationary frame. The wringer frame is supported in the elevated position by the link, which has now been caused to slide under the action of the spring. The swing- ing of the pivoted table cover 12 in a clockwise direction returns the rack to the vertical position with the consequent withdrawing of the link 16, the table acting on a link 17 pivoted to the rack. The rack, links, and associated parts are provided at both ends of the machine. A board 18 pivoted to the wringer frame is moved into operative position by the raising of the frame. The driving-gear may be that described in Specification 227,975.
