Folding mangles and wringers.-In folding mangle in which a toothed wheel B on the bottom roller shaft, or otherwise connected to the flywheel, gears with a rotatable pinion C on the stationary frame and concentric with the pivot a of the frame A, there is provided a pawl D to hold the pinion C fast while the mangle frame is being raised or lowered, the pinion rotating idly when the mangle is being operated. As shown, the pawl is counterweighted and drops into engagement with the pinion on slightly tilting the frame before lowering or raising, projections on the movable frame engaging the pawl and freeing it just before the frame becomes stationary. In another form in which the pawl is not counterweighted, the pawl is controlled from the pedal operating the catch for locking the frames together. Specification 263,996 is referred to.
