Capsules and like closures.- In a closure for glass vessels in which a packing-ring d is mounted in a groove in the inner surface of the flange c of the metal lid, the lower portion of the flange is pressed against the' wall of the vessel during the closing thereof, the mass of the lower part of the packing-ring being thus pushed into the upper part of the groove to ensure a tight packing. A tear-off tongue e is provided with an incision at each side of it to ensure that the flange is torn transversely of its circumference.
