Abstract

231,869. Kodak, Ltd., (Assignees of Jones, J. G.). April 2, 1924, [Convention date]. Severing.-Relates to a method of and means for making thin-edged strips for use as protective coverings for photographic film spools, and consists in dividing a wide band by abrasive action. A web 6 is drawn from a supply roll 5 over guide rolls 7, 8, 10 and supporting rolls 11 to winding rolls 18, 19. The web is bent over the rolls 11, which are grooved to leave unsupported portions opposite double.bevelled grinding-wheels 33 rotated by belts 32 from a main shaft 35. Each shaft 31 may carry a number of wheels, the wheels on the two shafts being staggered in order that narrow strips may be produced.
