The bands p to be cut are drawn from delivery rolls 55 by the rotating rolls c, u. The stencil bands are guided in their journey to and from the cutting-rollers by pulleys g, 106, supported by arms 95, 109, which are adapted to be swung against the action of springs 101, 115 to bring the pulleys into engagement with the abutment roll u, in which position they are locked by nuts 99, 113. Each of the cut stencil bands is received by, and wound up with, a corresponding backing strip b. These strips are drawn from suitably braked rolls s and, passing over suitable guide or tensioning rolls 155, are wound up on shafts.
