Abstract

461,538. Lap-forming apparatus. AKT.- GES. J. J. RIETER & CIE. July 29, 1936, No. 20962. Convention date, July 30, 1935. [Class 120 (i)] In apparatus for forming lap rolls of fibrous material of the kind in which the lap is fed from calender rollers which form part of the apparatus to a lap roller 12 which is supported in the angle above two winding rollers 2, 3 disposed side by side, the lap is conveyed from the calender rollers to the lap rollers by a travelling band 1 which runs over the winding rollers 2, 3 and serves to support the lap roll therebetween. The band 1 is tensioned by a rotatable roller 5 mounted at each side on a two-armed weighted lever 6, 7. The fluted winding roller 2 is rotated at a higher peripheral velocity than the smooth roller 3 in order to tighten the band 1 while the lowest calender roller 4 turns freely on its shaft and there is no pressure between the rollers 8, 4. The lap-rod 12 is pressed downwardly by the members 13 connected to rack bars 14 which move upwards against the action of the brake 18. Specification 175,186, [Class 120 (i)], is referred to.
