Abstract

Hydrated calcium phosphate, preferably precipitated di-calcium hydrogen phosphate, is treated with sulphuric or phosphoric acid and ammonium sulphate or with ammonium bisulphate to obtain ammonium phosphate. According to the Provisional Specification finely-ground tri-calcium phosphate may be employed. Specification 184,206 is referred to.ALSO:Hydrated calcium phosphate, preferably precipitated decalcium phosphate is treated with sulphuric or phosphoric acid and an alkali or ammonium sulphate or with an alkali or ammonium bisulphate to obtain an alkali or ammonium phosphate. It is preferred to use a small excess of acid except when making ammonium phosphate. According to the Provisional Specification, tricalcium phosphate may be used as starting material. Specification 184,206 is referred to.
