Abstract

227,807. Kestner & Neu. Jan. 15, 1924, [Convention date]. Air, controlling direction of flow of; heating fittings.-Relates to a method of drying materials, such as yarn in hanks or upon bobbins, fabrics, sheets of paper, &c. during their passage through an open-ended tunnel having a central exhaust fan for moist air and auxiliary fans for circulating the. air alternately through heating-chambers and in tunnels, and consists in circulating the air upwardly through and transversely to the direction of travel of the material. Apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a tunnel having sections 1 - - 6 containing heating-coils 14 - - 19 and associated fans 8 - - 13, the fan 13 being located so as to draw cold air through the ends of the tunnel and discharge the moisture-laden air through the tube of a re-heater 19 to the atmosphere. The material enters the tunnel at the section 1 and leaves at the section 7 which is not provided with a heater.
