Axle structures.-The propeller shaft A transmitting the drive to the rear axle is supported with four degrees of freedom by a cross-member 1, 2, integral with or secured to the chassis. The shaft is an easy fit in the end 7 of the torque tube. which is carried in the bush 7<2> of a member 7<1> having trunnions 10, 11 slidable in bearings 8 of a ring 12. The latter is supported from the member 1, 2 by balls 13, 14, the upper ball 14 being carried by an adjusting screw 6. The propeller shaft is free to move longitudinally in the tube 7, laterally in the bearings 8, and to swivel about the bearings 8 and the axis y, y<1>, to accommodate the movements of the rear axle relatively to the chassis.
