Abstract
227,522. Walker, J. H., and Knight, R. E. Oct. 16, 1923. Reinforced concrete.-A mesh reinforcement of the kind described in Specification 199,552 consists of main crossing bars or wires a<1>, b<1>, Fig. 1, secured together by auxiliary wires c which extend along certain of the main bars and are formed at intervals into loops or eyes d which are bent around the crossing points and through which the bars a<1> may be threaded. Plain bars without the wires c may be. interwoven with the mesh formed as above. The loops may be twisted to form two loops, the outer one being threaded on a main bar instead of being bent over it. In a modification, separate wires d', Fig. 6, are secured to the wires c and are bound around the crossing points. Two or more meshes may be superposed and spaced apart by struts and ties. The main bars may be straight or curved, and the invention is applicable to roads, floors, walls, columns, girders, piles, &c.
