Abstract

226,970. Bailey, G. H. S. Dec. 27, 1923. Reinforced concrete. - A reinforcement for a railway sleeper comprises horizontally-arranged rods 11, 12 formed with ribs 13 on each side which are cut and bent to provide verticallyextending members 22 inclined on opposite sides of the centre to define a truss-like formation. The members are formed by slitting the ribs transversely and longitudinally. An expanded metal reinforcement 25 may be provided underneath the rail-bearing portions of the sleeper.
