Abstract

366,242. Tramway points and crossings. ALLEN & CO., Ltd., E., IMPERIAL STEEL WORKS, Tinsley, and RYLANDS, H. J., 50, Crimicar Lane, both in Sheffield. Jan. 3, 1931, No. 293. [Class 104 (i).] A tramway point or crossing a made of hard metal has its ends b for joining up to the main rails, formed of different metal, to facilitate welding to the main rails. The ends b may be short lengths of ordinary rail, which are arranged in the mould of the casting a so that they become integral with the latter. The casting may have enlargements c at the ends embracing the rail flanges and webs, and the webs may have holes through which the cast metal flows. The casting may be welded to the rails b at the points f.
