Abstract

Portable railways ; rail joints ; scarfs, tie-bars.- Reversible turnouts are made in portable sections a - - c connected together by the rails which are symmetrical at the head and base and are tied by transverse members connected centrally of the rails. The rails are tied by bolts f passing through tubes e or by members welded or riveted to the rails. The rails are of rectangular bar section, connected by lap joints d, and are laid on the ground without sleepers.
