[Class 104 (ii)] In a portable railway, the rails 1 consist of pipes fixed to chairs 2 as by welding, and supported by sleepers 3 made of angle iron and having the open angle resting on the ground. At the joints the adjacent sleepers of two sections of track are connected by clamps 4, and the gaps between the two sets of rails are staggered, as shown in Fig. 1.
