Abstract

171,679. Purvis, W. M. Nov. 16, 1920, [Convention date]. Rail joints; sleepers, arrangements of.-In a railway track wherein the rails 11 are secured at intermediate parts to rigid sleepers, the rail ends are supported by resilient longitudinal blocks 14. The metal cross sleepers are embedded in concrete, while the blocks 14, which may be of wood, also are embedded in concrete 12. The rail ends rest on a plate 15 which may have a flange 24 to embrace the block 14 and an extension 19 secured to the rail web by fish-bolts engaging a fish-plate 21, the flange 24 and plate 21 being preferably inside the track.
