Ironing-machines with rollers rotating against concave surfaces. - In order that a plain roller may be substituted in a Decoudun or other machine for a perforated roller having means for exhausting from or blowing into the interior of the roller, the exhaust or blowing means of the perforated roller are arranged to be in communication at all times with the whole of the interior of the roller and to function otherwise than through the roller trunnions. The perforated roller f encloses a gilled heating cylinder a having heating-medium supply and discharge passages arranged in the trunnions c, e, the roller being supported at one end by a disc d integral with the trunnion e and at the other by a spider g secured to the cylinder a. An annular disc h, provided with a duct k communicating with the blower or exhauster, is supported in a rabbet formed between a recess in the end of the roller and a ring i bolted thereto, the disc h remaining stationary during the rotation of the cylinder a and roller f.
