Abstract

225,525. Cuprum, Soc. Anon. Nov. 26, 1923, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments.-The filaments spun from the nozzle p pass into a cylindrical vessel b and an elongated conical funnel e, and the whole of the precipitating liquid is supplied through the annular chamber c lying only slightly below the edge of the funnel; the annular chamber c acts as a support for the funnel e, and it also serves to close the cylindrical vessel b. By the above described arrangement a more regular manufacture of the filaments is ensured. To secure a continuous flow of liquid, the funnel e together with a supply pipe connected to the pipe d, constitute a siphon. In use, there is a slow but continuous replacement of the liquid above the edge of the funnel.
