Abstract
225,474. Wingfield, B. R. June 18, 1924. Thermometers.-Relates to distance transmitting or recording thermometers of the type in which the movement is transmitted by a Bourdon tube &c., and in which ' the transmitting element is duplicated to compensate for movement arising from change of temperature of the transmitting element, and consists in using a differential gear comprising two bevel wheels 11, 11<a> on a fixed axle. 15 and a third bevel wheel 12 pivoted on a shaft 13 which can rotate round the axle 15, the movement of this shaft being indicated by a pointer 16. So long as the movement of the two transmitting elements 1, 1<a> is the same the bevel wheel 12 merely rotates on is pivot without rotating the shaft 13 round the axle 15, but a difference in their movements results in a rotation of the shaft 13 which is shown on the pointer 16.
