Abstract
475,133. Indicating and recording apparatus. ASKANIA-WERKE AKT.-GES. VORM. CENTRALWERKSTATT DESSAU UND C. BAMBERG-FRIEDENAU. May 15, 1936, Nos. 13873, 13874, and 13875. Convention dates, May 16, 1935, May 18, 1935, and May 25, 1935. [Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Group XX] In a recording instrument, for example a recording theodolite, having a rotary member 2, Fig. 1, bearing a coarse scale and a rotary member 5 bearing a fine scale, the latter is provided with a number of similar scales arranged end to end and is so geared to the coarse scale bearing member that its movement through the range of one of its scales corresponds to the movement of the coarse scale bearing member through one division of the coarse scale. As shown, gear wheels 6, 10 are carried by a shaft 11 rotatably mounted on an arm 7 which is pivoted at 7<1> and biassed by a spring to move the gears 6, 10 into engagement with gears 3, 4 carried by the members 2, 5. The depth of engagement may be controlled by a screw adapted to contact with an abutment on the lever 7. In the theodolite shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the telescope 3, 3<1> is mounted in a hollow shaft 2 rotatable about a horizontal axis N in the housing 1, which is rotatable on a stationary part 6 about a vertical axis H. A bevel gear 4, to which the azimuth coarse circle 5 is fixed, is loosely mounted on shaft 2 and is pushed by a spring 16 into engagement with a bevel gear 7 fixed to the stationary part 6. The altitude coarse circle 8 is fixed to the shaft 2. The fine circles 9, 10 are loosely mounted on the shaft 2 and are driven from the circles 5, 8 respectively by transmission gears 11. The circles 5, 9, 8, 10 lie side by side and their position may be recorded by printing mechanism 18, which preferably draws a strip of carbon paper and a record strip past the circles. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a printing mechanism detachably or hingedly connected to the instrument casing. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
