Blades; axial - flow type.-Stator blades of a turbine, are of a form increasing in thickness from root to tip and coact with rotor blades tapering from root to tip so that at any point in their length the blade sections and steam passages are equal or similar. The blades of both stator and drum may be twisted to meet the differences in peripheral speed at different radial distances. The stator blades f may be of less width but more closely spaced than the rotor blades a so as to maintain the steam passage ways h, i geometrically similar, Figs. 10 and 11. The blades may taper uniformly or only for a portion of their length. The stator blades may twist a different amount from and taper to a less extent than the rotor blades.
