Abstract
224,436. Green, L. Feb. 26, 1924. Slecpers, pot, integral with chairs; tie-bars; chairs with adjustable jaws; chairs.-In a metal pot or plate sleeper for flange rails, the rail A is supported on a single hollow pedestal having an open top and continuous vertical side and end walls and extending substantially completely across the sleeper B parallel to the rail. Each rail is secured by one or more fixed lugs C and a clamp or jaw D retained by a key E which engages a raised lug F. The sleepers are connected by a tie-bar G which rests on a projection H on the sleeper, is secured by a gib K and has a slot for the clamp D. A liner L may be used to adjust the gauge, or the width of the gib and clamp may be varied. The key E in Fig. 1 moves the clamp D vertically while the clamp D of Fig. 18 is rotated and the key E rounded to suit the changing inclination of the clamp which may have a serrated rail-face. The rail seating may have a raised, roughened, or chequered surface.
