Abstract

177,838. MacMillan, G. W. Dec. 1, 1920. Sleepers integral with chairs.-Pot sleepers for flat-footed rails have integral rail and key jaws 1, 2, the inner jaw 1 being of less width than the rail seat 4 which has on its inner edge projections, ridges, beadings, or lugs to engage the inner flange of the rail. The rail seat may have a continuous ridge 5 or a projection 5<a> at each end. The key jaw 2 may incline from the rail jaw 1 both in plan and elevation, or the jaws may be canted at an inclination of 1 in 20. The sleepers are secured together by tie-bars 8 with adjustable gibs and cotters 11.
