Abstract

269,450. Spencer, R. L. Dec. 17, 1926. Sleepers, metal ; rails integral with sleepers ; sleepers and parts, arrangements of ; tie-bars.-A longitudinal metal sleeper 1, Fig. 2, has at its inner edge an upturned flange 2 to which the tiebars 10 are secured. The rails 4 are secured to the sleeper by lugs 5 and clips 6 or are integral with the sleeper. The joints in the rails and sleepers are staggered. The sleeper has a downturned flange 3 at its outer edge, and adjacent sleepers are joined by plates 14. The adjustable tie-bars 10 may be replaced by fixed tie-bars 34, Fig. 3, having jaws 35 clamped by screws 36 to the inner flange 32 of the sleeper.
