Abstract

223,651. Juhasz, J. July 24, 1923. Spray carburettors.-A nozzle 18 discharges fuel into each of a number of independent carburetting chambers 14 - 17 the outlets from which are controlled bv passages 26 - - 29 in a barrel throttle valve. The passages 26, 29 controlling the chambers 14, 17 are arranged in a central transverse plane of the throttle valve, and the passages 27, 28 controlling the chambers 15, 16 are situated at the ends of the throttle valve. The passages 26, 29 merge into a common outlet port which, in the closed position of the throttle, Fig. 5, leaves a small outlet for slow running mixture from the carburetting chamber 17. The throttle passages are so arranged that the chambers 14, 15, 16 are brought into action simultaneously and preferably when the chamber 17 is fully open. The outlet passages 13, Fig. 2, form continuations of the throttle passages. The throttle is rotated by an arm 33 limited in its movement by stops 34, 35. Each of the nozzles 18 comprises an inner jet tube 36 with base flange 37 and surrounded by a tube 39 reaching nearly to the top of the jet tube which has a cap 40 surrounding the tube 39 and reaching nearly to the lower end thereof. The jet tubes are pierced by holes at different levels. The ducts 45 of the nozzles in the chambers 14, 17 are controlled by needle valves.
