The box - section longitudinals are secured to the interior of the bottom are spaced apart by transverse intercostal members 10. The bottom is formed of a series of concave longitudinal plates 9, supported by the longitudinals 8, the inner edges of the inner strip being secured to the keel and the outer edges of the outer strip being secured to the lower edge of the bell shaped hull. The transverse frames intermediate of the deep frames 18 are shallower and likewise notched to accommodate the longitudinals 17.
