Description
1 A SOAP 1 The present invention relates to.a soap with an imprinted image
(as herein defined).
The image in connection with this means a drawing, a picture, a sign, etc.
The soap in connection with the present invention means any cleansing bar. i.e. a soap proper, a so-called soapless soap, etc.
In many Instances it is desirable to have imprinted on the soap some image which may be a picture of a hotel distriburing the soap, some propaganda slogan, and the like.
So far there has not been known any soap and/or method for its preparation in which said image is maintained while the soap is being used.
It was therefore desirable to design such a soap and a method for its preparation. Such soap should be relatively cheap and easy to manufacture.
The present invention thus consists in a soap imprinted on one side with an image (as herein defined), said image being imprinted on a thin film, which film is optionally provided on the bottom with gluing means. or optionally covered by a suitable material.
The film being used for imprinting thereon may be any suitable this layer of material, such as paper, aluminium, copper or golden foil. etc.; cellophane. cellulose acetate; polycarbonate; certain fabrics; and certain plastic materials, e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl chloride (PVC). certain polyesters and the like, on which a picture can be printed andlor drawn and which is compatible with the soap to be used.
The gluing means, if present, may, for example. be acrylic glues. latex, etc.
Preferred covering means are a thin wax layer.
z.
A wax in connection with the present invention means any hardened wax which is compatible with soap and with the film, and water rejecting. As suitable waxes there may be used. for example, beeswax. e.g. cera alba, cera balena and the like; carnoba wax; paraffin wax; hardened white oil and the like.
However. also other covering means may be utilized, as becomes apparent, for example, from some of the samples. Said other covering means are preferably water resistant but to a lesser extent than the soap utilized. They may even be another soap.
The present invention consists also in a method for the manufacture of the above soap, comprising preparing soap bars of the desired size, fixing thereon the imprinting film and, if desired, covering said bar with a layer of suitable covering means.
The fixation of the imprinted film on the bar is performed, for example, by way of stamping in commercially available machines, known in the art, e.g. so-called SAS machine of Thomas Mariano. Should the filmIbe provided with gluing means the film may be fixed in a similar manner. Usually in this case no covering means will be applied.
The soap is covered, if desired, with the wax, preferably by moving the imprinted bar below a device in which the wax has been liquified by heating. advantageously to about 50-60 0 C, and covering said bar with the desired quantity of wax, which hardens after a very short time. Said device is suitably provided with a timer, ascertaining that the desired amount of wax is applieO in the period in which the bar passes below the device.
The amount of wax required varies in accordance with the size of the bar, the wax utilized, etc. It should be sufficient that the wax should give a sufficiently thick layer, e.g. of about 100 microns.
In a similar manner also other suitable covering means are affixed.
T Any commercially available soap may be utilised. The size and thickness may be varied in accordance with the requirements of the customer. Very suitable are the bars having the siie of the bars used In the hotels.
The present Invention will now be Illustrated with reference to the following examples. without being restricted by same.
Example 1:
A natural herbal soap was covered with a thin layer of paper Imprinted with a picture by stamping In a SAS machine. Thereafter the Imprinted bar was covered with a liquified cera alba wax previously heated to 55 0 C by passing it below an adequate device.
Example 2:
In the same manner as described in Example 1, soap bars having the following soaps were prepared: a. Natural herbal soap Imprinted cellophane Paraffin wax b. Natural Dead Sea mineral soap Imprinted polyethylene Carnoba wax Natural Dead Sea mineral soap Imprinted polyvinyl acetate Cera-balena Soapless soap (Neca 7) Imprinted cellulose acetate Paraffin wax e. Soap based on animal fats (tallow fatty acids) Imprinted fabric Hardened white oil c Example 3: in a manner similar to that described in Example 1, but without the covering step. the following soaps were prepared: a. Soapless soap (Neca 7/Hawai Chemen) Imprinted paper Polyethylene glycol (P.E.G. No. 8000) b. Soap based on glycerine fats Imprinted polyvinyl alcohol Nonylphenol 12 Mol Example 4: In a manner similar to that described in Example 1, substituting the wax by other covering means and by adequate conditions, the following soaps were prepared: a. Soap based on animal fats (tallow fatty acids) Imprinted cellophane covered at the bottom with an acrylic glue b. Mineral soap Imprinted gold foil covered at the bottom with an emulsive glue Natural black mud soap imprinted fabric covered at the bottom with latex.
