Description

89386/2 1130 no>nn SOAP BAR JEHUDA MALKI -1- 89386/2 The present invention relates to a soap with an imprinted image (as herein defined) .
The image in connection with this means a drawings, a picture, a sign, etc.
In many instances it is desirable to have imprinted on the soap some image which may be a picture of a hotel distributing the soap, some propaganda slogan, and the like.
So far there has not been known any soap and/or method for its preparation in which said image is maintained up to the end of the use of the soap.
It was therefore desirable to design a method for the preparation of such a soap. The method should be relatively cheap and easy to perform.
The present invention thus consists in a method of affixing a selected image to a bar of cleansing soap so that the image is maintained on the soap bar while the soap is being used, including the steps of : (a) selecting a thin film imprinted on one side with the selected image and applying the image-bearing thin film to one surface of the soap bar; (b) fixing the thin film to the surface of the soap by stamping in a soap-stamping machine; (c) heating a guick-hardening water-resistant coating material compatible with both the thin film and the soap to a temperature of 50-60°C so that the coating material is liquified, wherein the stamped image-bearing soap bar is passed under a heating device for a period of time sufficient to apply, over the image-bearing surface of the soap bar, a layer of coating -1A- 89386/2 material about 100 μιη thick; and (d) removing the coated soap bar from under the heating device to permit the layer of coating material to harden over the stamped image.
The film being used for imprinting thereon may be any suitable thin layer of material, such as paper, aluminium, copper or golden foil, etc.; cellophane; cellulose acetate; polycarbonate; certain fabrics; and certain plastic materials, e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) , certain polyesters and the like, on which a picture can be printed and/or drawn and which is compatible with the soap to be used.
A wax in connection with the present invention means any hardened wax which is compatible with soap and with the film, and water rejecting. As suitable waxes there may be used, for example, beeswax, e.g. cera alba, cera balena, and the like; carnoba wax; paraffin wax; hardened white oil, and the like.
The present invention consists also in a method for the manufacture of the above soap comprising preparing soap bars of the desired size, fixing thereon the imprinted film and covering said bar with a layer of suitable wax.
The fixation of the imprinted film on the bar is performed, e.g. by way of stamping in commercially available machines, known in the art, eg. so called SAS machine of Thomaso Mariani .
The soap is then covered with the wax suitably by moving the imprinted bar below a device in which the wax has been liquified by heating, advantageously to about 50-60°C, and covering said bar with the desired quantity of wax, which hardens after a very short time. Said device is suitably provided with a timer, ascertaining that the desired amount of wax is applied in the period in which the bar passes below the device.
The amount of wax required varies in accordance with the size of the bar, the wax utilized, etc. It should be sufficient that the wax should give a sufficiently thick layer, e.g. of about 100 microns.
Any commercially available soap may be utilized. The size and thickness may be caried in accordance with the requirements of the customer. Very suitable are the bars having the size of the bars used in the hotels.
The present invention will now be illustrated with reference to the following examples, without being restricted by same.
