Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a heat sensitive recording material which can be readily developed with water and have stable development for long term by having PVA-containing hydrophilic binder and a hydrophobic particle-containing heat sensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:In a heat sensitive recording material having a heat sensitive layer containing a hydrophilic binder and hydrophobic particles, a PVA which involves vinyl alcohol unit including less than 90% of hydrophilic binder is contained. The particles may preferably include, for example, a resin in which copolymer of ethylene and (meth)acrylic acid are crosslinked with Na, Mg or Zn ions. This material can be readily developed with water, and has stable development for long term. This material may be used for an inexpensive lithographic film having high resolution and a lithographic master. This material is also used for an energizing material to be heated and recorded upon energization.
