Abstract

Pictorial matter, advertisements, &c. are attached to tablets of soap by drying the tablet superficially for example by treating with aqueous alcohol, placing a transparency made of the material known under the Registered Trade Mark "Cellophane," transparent gummed paper or parchment on the dried area, drying the tablet preferably in a heated chamber and finally applying to the transparency a coating of paraffin wax. The wax coating may be levelled by treating with a wax solvent, e.g. xylol. The dried area of the soap tablet may be coated with paraffin wax before applying the transparency. The tablet may be provided with a recess to receive the transparency. According to the Provisional Specification paraffin wax may be replaced by a cellulose ester coating.
