Abstract
222,840. Schmidt'sche Heissdampf- Ges. Oct. 1, 1923, [Convention date]. Locomotive-type boilers; heating by indirect contact of steam.-In a locomotive boiler having a water-tube firebox 1, the firebox is not connected to the steam and water spaces of the boiler barrel 2, the steam generated in the firebox being led in a closed circuit through heating-tubes 10 in the barrel. The heating-tubes are placed above the smoke-tubes 9 and are connected to inlet and outlet headers 11, 12 which are connected to the top and bottom headers 5, 3 of the firebox. The outlet heads may be placed in the smoke box and connected to the lower firebox header through a surface feed-heater. The firebox tubes are divided iuto separate sets, which are connected to separate heating-tubes. Specification 195,989 is referred to.
