Abstract
221,940. Scott, W. Sept. 1, 1923. Direct air-pressure apparatus, non-automatic. -In a cask &c., in which the contents are expelled by pressure introduced from an external source such as a pump a cylinder of carbon dioxide, &c., two openings at least are employed, and these are all arranged so that when on the stillage they are all submerged and leakage reduced by the swelling of the wood. The pressure is introduced through a tap 9, Figs. 1 and 3, which is T-shaped and which can be moved from the position shown on disconnection from the source of pressure with a position in which the stem lies parallel with the cask head, the tap then being closed. The tap is held by a casing 14, and a leather or other seating 12 is provided. A connection as shown in Fig. 5 may also be used. An exit tap 5 is provided for emptying the cask 12. Specifications 17292/15 and 221,096, [both in Class 21, Casks &c.], are referred to.
