Abstract

153,399. Dagnall, R. F. Aug. 18, 1919. Sunken ships, raising.-A safety valve particularly adapted for use on pontoons employed for raising sunken vessels comprises a perforated tube closed at one end and encircled by a sleeve of indiarubber. In the form shown, the tube a has a flange b against which the side of the pontoon c is pressed by a nut d and has a groove g adapted to receive a rib j on a sleeve h provided for closing the perforations f. In a modification, a layer of gauze is interposed between the tube and the sleeve and the sleeve is secured by wiring the sleeve above a projection on the tube.
