Abstract

221,444. Everett, J. H. D. April 9, 1924. Razors, safety. In a safety razor in which a blade is held so as to present an outwardly bowed cutting edge, the handle has means engaging notches in the ends of the blade and means on the outwardly bowed guard engages the underside of the blade to prevent it bending on to the teeth of the guard. As shown, the holder is formed from a blank, Fig. 1, doubled to form a handle 10, Fig. 3, and curved spring arms 11 connecting the bowed guard 13. The blade 16, Fig. 6, is retained in the bowed condition by a reinforcing jacket 19 extending over the back edge and both faces of the blade and having lugs 22 bent over adjacent the edges of the notches 18, the blade is mounted in the holder by bending apart the arms 11 and seating lugs 15 on jaws 12 on the arms in the notches 18 and between the lugs 22 of the jacket, an elongated tooth 23 and projections 23<1> on the guard 13 spacing the blade above the teeth 14.
