129,912. Mainwaring, A. J. Dec. 12, 1918. Addition to 120,109. Hair-cutting appliances of safety-razor type; razors, safety. A device for use either as a hairtrimmer or as a safety razor has two distinct sets of teeth G, G<1>, Fig. 1, which differ from one another in outline and in cross-section. The teeth G are used for shaving and the teeth G' for hairtrimming, the teeth G<1> varying in length so that the depth of cut may be altered by adjusting the blade or blades C along the comb A. The shield H may consist of two hinged portions, which embrace the comb A and are clamped upon the blade or blades by a nut E' on a bolt F. The resilient action of the blades may be enhanced by rubber or like pads or coverings applied to the comb, or shield, or blades In a modification, the two sets of teeth G, G<1> are arranged at opposite edges of the comb, as shown in Fig. 9, and the device is provided with a handle K connected to the shield by a universal joint P, R, spring clips L, M being provided for enabling the handle to be secured in either of two positions parallel to the axis of the comb. Instead of or in addition to providing the comb with a slot 13, longitudinal slots may be provided in the blades or in the shield.
