Abstract

170,229. Wallace, A. J. Jan. 4, 1921. Hair-cutting appliances of safety-razor type comprising a thin blade 14 held between a guard 10 and a clamping-plate 15. The handle 13 is extended and provided with a spring clamp 19 for holding the blade during stropping, the clamp being secured by a sliding clip 20 and the blade being maintained at the correct angle while stropping by a sliding member 22 engaging the clamp 19 and protecting the edge of the blade not being stropped. The spring clamp consists of a strip of metal bent double, the two parts normally springing open until forced and held together by the clip 20. The teeth on the two sides of the guard may be of different pitch to give a fine and coarse cut.
