Abstract

221,104. Rowledge, A. J., and Rolls- Royce, Ltd. Oct. 12, 1923. Cylindrical journal bearings.-The upper half b<12> of each bearing for the multi-throw crankshaft of an engine is integral with the upper half b<1> of the crank case to which the lower bearing half c is secured, and the latter is also secured to the lower crankcase half b<2> by means that will enable wear in the bearing to be taken up. As shown the lower bearing half c which fits between side faces b<22> of the lower half of the crankcase has clearance holes c<4> for securing bolts e and when the latter are loosened wear in the bearing can be taken up by adjusting the bolts d which are secured to the lower bearing half c.
