Abstract
217,207. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Maurer, L. A.). June 4,1923, [Convention date]. Making lamps.-In machines for sealing-off lamp bulbs &c. a fork 6 is so mounted that as a bulb 4, having its exhaust tube 3 supported in a holder 2 on an intermittently-rotating spider 1, is approaching the sealing-off position the fork is rocked from its normal position shown in broken lines in Fig. 1 to the position shown in full lines to embrace the exhaust tube and permit the gas burner 12 carried by the fork to soften the tube, the fork then being returned by a weight 8 to its normal position to raise the bulb from the exhaust tube. The first movement is produced by a lug 11 carried by the spider striking a rod 10 attached to a pivoted yoke 9 in which the stem 7 of the fork is rotatably carried, and after a bulb has been sealed off the succeeding lug 11 operates a lever 16 and a rod 15 to tilt the fork to the position shown in Fig. 6 to discharge the sealed bulb 4 on to a shoot 19.
