Stands. - A stand for rigidly supporting instruments and permitting their adjustment in one plane comprises two end standards or frames A, A<1> each provided with a jaw or cheek C, C' having a seating of circular section, a cylindrical casing D housed between the cheeks C, C<1> and having a flat top E or other supporting means, and means such as a tension rod B and nut B<1> for drawing the cheeks together so as to clamp the casing; the casing may constitute a spool housing, as shown, when the stand supports a kinematograph projector. The cheeks may be cast with the standards or may be separate and secured bv screws. One of the cheeks may have a pin F which engages a slot or depression in the casing D to limit the angular adjustment, and edge flanges or beadings may be formed respectively on the casing or cheeks. When the casing D constitutes a spool housing, runner bars e<2> may be provided to carry the lantern.
