Abstract
215,308. General Electric Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Patent-Treuhand-Ges. f³r Elektrische Gl³hlampen). May 4, 1923, [Convention date]. Arc lamps; electrodes. - An enclosed lamp with tungsten electrodes is provided with a screen f of glass, mica, metal or other material having an aperture h on a level with the electrodes. The screen may extend around the electrodes completely or only on the side from which light is to be emitted. Disintegrated matter is deposited on the inside of the screen. The screen may be secured to the bulb by arms l at the top, as shown, or at the bottom or may be secured to the stem by wires. The screen is preferably closed at the bare k so as to produce an inward current through the aperture h. In a modification, closure is produced by fusing the lower edge of the screen to the bulb a; when the bulb is cylindrical the screen may be flared for this purpose. The electrodes maybe arranged eccentrically of the screen and nearthe aperture h to enable a larger projecting lens. to be used with the lamp.
