Abstract

At the sides of a table (1) for drying under vacuum of dressed skins there are provided two conduits (3 and 4), disposed near to the table, in which are inserted tube bundles (5) flowed through by cooling fluid, so that vapour emitted from the skins (2), whilst drying, passes through the holes (7) and is immediately condensed and discharged through the pipes (8), with substantial advantages not only on the degree of vacuum which is obtained at the interior of the drying chamber, but in the reduced time required for drying. Drying heat is supplied via a chamber (15) containing a heating fluid e.g. hot water or oil. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Table for vacuum drying of skins The present invention has for its object to provide a table for drying under vacuum of dressed skins.
According to the present invention, a table for the drying under vacuum of dressed skins comprises a drying table below which is provided a chamber traversed by a heating fluid which causes the evaporation of the moisture from the skin in a chamber bounded by the table on which the skin is rested and by a superposed cover, characterised in that conduits, in which are disposed tube bundles flowed through by refrigerating fluid and which are in communication with the drying chamber, are disposed close to said drying table so as to reduce to a minimum the distance between the drying table and said tube bundles.
This construction gives advantages in the rapidity of the drying operation, and in the degree of vacuum which is formed at the interior of the drying chamber, and in the time required for the drying.
As the aspirating chambers, containing the respective bundles of tubes through which refrigerant passes, are disposed at a very small distance from the table itself, condensation occurs more rapidly and the degree of vacuum obtained is cor respondingly greater.
Tests made have demonstrated that there is an increase of the degree of drying of the skins and above all a more rapid drying of the same.
It is noted that, with a table whereon skins to be dried are placed, and on which there is rested a closure cover which creates therewith a decompression chamber, and below the table sup porting the skins there is provided a chamber through which flows heating fluid, usually the ar rangement is that some conduits connect the decompression chamber with two lateral conduits through which extend tube bundles in which refrigerating a liquid runs.
The vapour which is formed as a result of the drying under vacuum of the dressed skins is therefore brought back into said heat exchanges where it is condensed and then aspirated by a suitable pump.
A large distance overall from the decompression chamber to the heat exchangers, which is usually the case when these latter are mounted at a distance from the table whereon the skins are placed, results in a lesser degree of aspiration and, consequently, a greater duration of the drying operation.
On the contrary, with the adoption of the present invention, having the condensation of the vapour emitted from the skins at only a small distance from the table which supports the said skins, the more rapid condensation brings about an increase of or the rapidity of absorption of the vapour and, consequently, a more rapid and more efficacious drying of the skins.
If it is proposed to apply the said principle also to machines provided with a plurality of superposed tables, each of these is provided with a respective chamber for drying of the vapour there being provided also vertical displacements of the closure cover of each table and of the tables themselves. This permits the organisation in a more suitable manner of the work of loading and unloading of the individual tables, taking into account the drying times, and more profitably organising the work of loading and unloading.
An embodiment in accordance with the invention is hereinafter particularly described with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a drying table, with one of the bundles of tubes partially withdrawn; Figure 2 is a side view thereof, partially in section; Figure 3 is a schematic vertical section part of a machine with multiple tables.
In Fig. 1 there is shown a working table 1 on which are spread out dressed skins 2 to be dried, the table being provided with two lateral hollow bodies 3 and 4, of rectangular cross-section, into which are inserted bundles of tubes 5 through which runs a refrigerant fluid fed by an external pump, not shown.
The table 1 is covered, in the working state, by a cover 6 (Fig. 2),and vapour emerging from the skins 2 being dried passes through holes 7 into the chamber in which the tube bundles 5 are inserted, which condenses the vapour, turning it into liquid which can be discharged through the pipes 8.
It will be noted that, as a result of the extremely near proximity of the chamber, wherein are contained the skins 2 to be dried, and the conduits 3,4 containing the tube bundles 5, the condensation of the vapour is almost immediate, so that the degree of vacuum obtained is very high and the condensation occurs very rapidly.
This characteristic is even more increased in the case in which the machine is provided with multiple tables, as seen in Fig. 3, where there are provided by way of non-limiting example three superposed drying tables, respectively denoted by the reference numerals 9, 10 and 11.
Each of these is provided with a respective cover, respectively denoted by references 12, 13 and 14, which can be lifted up by mechanical means, not shown, separately for each table.
Obviously in the case of a multiple machine of this kind the operations of drying and of discharging are achieved in the most functional manner possible.
In the example in Fig. 3, the first cover 12 can be lifted up, to permit the loading of the skins onto the table 9, whilst its tables 10 and 11 are drying other skins.
After new skins to be dried have been loaded onto the table 9, this is lifted up until it comes into contact with the cover 12, thereby freeing the table 10 from which the dried skins can be removed and on which new skins can be loaded to be dried.
Then, to free the table 11, the cover 14, with the superposed table 10, is lifted up until the table 10 abuts against the cover 13, thereby freeing the table 11 to permit the loading and unloading thereof.
The operations are continued in, the same manner continuously, for the time necessary until the skins have become dried to the extent required.
In each case the tube bundles 5 are placed in the lateral cavities 3,4, which are disposed very near to the respective drying tables 9,10, and 11,thereby permitting a substantial reduction of the path of the vapour to be condensed, with all of the advantages above described with respect to the rapidity and the efficacy of the degree of drying obtained for the skins.
It will be noted that in all of the drying tables, whether the example of the table 1 of Fig. 1 or the tables 9, 10 and 11 of Fig. 3, there is present an underlying chamber, indicated by 15 in the first case (Fig. 2) and by 16, 17 and 18 in the second case (Fig. 3), through which flows heating fluid, for example hot water, steam, hot oil or other means adapted to transfer heat to the superposed skins.
