Automatic speed or power control; governors, applications of. - Comprises a particular arrangement and combination of parts comprising a parabolic governor and attached linkages forming a governing device for motor vehicles of the type in which a governor driven from the vehicle acts at a definite speed to close the throttle valve instantaneously. A pulley C, driven by belt or chain gearing from the propelling shaft, drives the governor spindle S through bevel gear. At the limiting speed the rollers R move up the parabolic surfaces F and cause the disc D to contact with the roller R<2>, the movement being transmitted through the levers L<1>, L<2> and spring-controlled bell-crank lever BL to the throttle valve V. An atmospheric valve V<1> may open on the suction strokes when the valve V is closed.
