Abstract

1290014 Variable speed gearing AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO Ltd 30 April 1970 [12 May 1969] 24096/69 Heading F2D An automatic power transmission with gear ratios changed (e.g. via a valve 23... 26) by a centrifugal governor 10 on an output shaft of the transmission, has the effect of the centrifugal governor opposed by first resilient means 17 increased as the throttle 29 of an engine driving the transmission is opened (e.g. by a further resilient means 43 acting via a lost motion connection 46, 47) and when the throttle is fully open by additional resilient means 65 brought into action by a fluid operated device 52, 53 (e.g. due to a valve 36 connecting a line 49 to a source of fluid pressure). As shown the throttle 29, the resilient means 43 and the valve 36 are all controlled by the pedal 31 pivotally mounted at 32.
