Abstract

214,469. Miller, P. May 7, 1923. Reamers. - An expanding reamer comprises radial blades D adjusted by the endwise motion of hollow cones C. The cones are mounted on a centring spindle B secured to the body A by screws 7 engaging a flat 6 and provided with an adjusting nut 9. The spindle is supported at its outer end by a disc 12 screwed into the body and is aligned by a collar 30 which fits accurately in the bore of the body. Nuts 17, 21 and the disc 12 lock the blades after adjustment, and tapered packing-pieces are provided which are wedged circumferentially between adjacent blades by taper-headed screws. A graduated set of cones is provided to enable a large range of adjustment to be made.
