Abstract

214,097. Miller, P. May 7, 1923. Reamers.-An expanding reamer comprises radial blades D adjusted by the endwise motion of hollow cones c<1>, c<2>, mounted on a centring spindle B screwed into the shank E at 7 and provided with an adjusting nut 14. The spindle is supported at its outer end by a disc 19 screwed into the body A and is locked by a screw 10 engaging a flat or groove 9. Nuts 24, 25 and the disc 19 lock the blades after adjustment. The shank E, which has a taper portion 2 secured to the body by screws 33 and a key 31, has a Morse or other taper for use in a machine and may be replaced by a similar shank having a square end for hand use.
